Wanted a quote for a general repair- came back with a bunch of other repairs - told them to just do the repairs that was requested and they stated price would not change - another company quoted as more than 50% of MINTS quote! GUESS who got the business- shop your projects and compare quotes
Repair process was explained to us. They then carefully and expertly looked for details and presented their findings clearly to the adjuster, gaining agreement. They have a local office (Waxahachie) and we feel that their interests were aligned with ours.
I would never recommend MINT Exteriors.
This was one of the most disappointing contractor experiences I have ever had. What was represented to me before I signed and what happened afterward were two very different things. Commitments were not honored, documents I repeatedly requested were difficult to obtain, communication became an exercise in persistence, and the initial workmanship included problems and shortcuts that I found completely unacceptable.
I ultimately had to bring in my own experienced roofing contractor, personally inspect the work, do my own cleanup, document the deficiencies, repeatedly push for answers, and maintain control of the insurance funds before this project finally moved toward an acceptable conclusion. Work had to be corrected and portions redone that should have been done correctly the first time.
What bothers me most is that none of this should have required a fight. I work with contractors for a living. I understand construction, mistakes, change orders and insurance work. This was not simply a project where a few things went wrong. In my experience, it was a pattern of saying one thing, doing another, withholding information until pressed, defending unacceptable work, and changing positions only when I refused to accept the answers I was being given.
The project is now closed and MINT has been paid in full. That does not change my opinion of the experience or how this company conducts business. Getting to the finish line required an extraordinary amount of my own time, knowledge, documentation and persistence.
Had I simply trusted the process, released the funds and accepted what I was initially given, the outcome would have been very different.
I would not use MINT Exteriors again under any circumstances.
